We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s useful being able to see how busy it is on the roads with apps such as Google Maps or Waze. Well, the same thing is now also possible with the De Lijn app, which shows many people are already on your bus or tram.
You will now see the line(s) with the times of trams or buses
To the left of the line number you will see a tram or bus icon. That’s not new, but is there a green, yellow or red icon next to it? This indicates how busy your specific ride is right now
WHAT THE ICON COLOURS MEAN:
<Voeg downloadbare bestanden toe>
<Voeg knoppen toe>
No information available
Plenty of seats free
Some seats free
Standing room only
Hardly any standing room
<Pas uitlijnen afbeelding aan>
<Pas positie afbeelding aan>
<Voeg een paragraaftitel toe>
In this example, the level of busyness at the stop is green. It’s usually busier at main stops such as stations where there are numerous lines. At a stop just after a busy shopping street where many people get off, there are usually plenty of free places. Of course it will also be busier during the school year than in the school holidays.
How do we predict how busy it is?
We do this on the basis of the information we have about your line from the past week. The sources for this information include:
the registered MOBIB scans
the physical counts we perform regularly
In a future update, we will add several more parameters in order to predict how busy it is more accurately.
